Iowa City/Coralville Bocce

We now have four Bocce Courts in City Park,
just South of Shelter #5 in Iowa City, Iowa.

The Iowa City Bocce Club was formed on April 8, 2006, with Ron Grassi as President, and Donn Gatto and Bruce Walker as co-Treasurers. The Executive Board of the club includes Donn Gatto, Bruce Walker, Andy Millson, Darlene Ohlshansky, Elizabeth Meyer, Nick Colangelo, and Ron Grassi.

Dues were set at $10 per person, with checks and money orders made out to the Iowa City Bocce Club, and mailed to Donn Gatto, 1501 Broadway Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240. We welcome any and all new members.

Order your Club shirts soon

  • Embroidered club logo polo shirts may also be ordered thru Donn Gatto, at a cost of $16 each for S-XL sizes, and $18.50 each for XXL or XXXL. Be sure to specify the size/s needed.

  • We also now have t-shirts, with the embroidered logo of the club, with a choice of colors and stitching color, for $13 for S-XL, and $15 for XXL.

  • Orders are now being taken, so that our supplier can order the shirts, and get them embroidered.

In 2006 we had league play ending in mid-July for NINE 4 person teams, and then had 2 sessions ending in early October, for SIXTEEN 2 person teams. Local businesses sponsored the teams, and we want to thank those businesses for supporting the game of bocce!

For the 2007 league season, we will be playing at the Lower City Park Bocce Courts beginning on Wednesday, May 9th, and Thursday, May 10th. We will have league games on every Wednesday and Thursday thru the middle of August, except for the 4th of July holiday. We start at 7 PM and 8 PM, with 8 teams playing each time slot.

We invite the public to stop by, but there is no seating, as such. Lawn chairs or blankets should be brought by those wanting to watch. Parking is available close by.

If you are interested in getting information about the club, or would care to participate, please contact Ron Grassi at, or Darlene Ohlshansky at

You don't have to be Italian to play Bocce!
